Zeke and Sharon Jabbour
Zeke Jabbour - Bridge Expert Extraordinaire

Cost: Included

Zeke Jabbour, a Bridge Grandmaster with 30,000 masterpoints, is the most successful senior player in the history of the American Contract Bridge League. In 2007 he was the ACBL Honorary Member of the Year. In 2006 he received a Goodwill Man of the Hour award. He has won the Barry Crane “Top 500” Trophy, The Sally Fishbein Trophy, The George Burns Trophy, and a variety of other awards and trophies including the Grant Marsee Trophy a dozen times. Zeke also won eight national championships in nine years while finishing second twice.

In 2003, he qualified from an exceptionally strong Trials field to represent the United States in the world championship Senior Bowl in Monte Carlo. There he won a bronze medal to add to the silver WBF medal he already owned (both just a trick away from the gold). He and partner Arnie Fisher achieved the highest Butler rating of any pair on all six American teams in those world championships. In 2006, in Verona, he was given the highest Butler rating of the entire world field.

He has won many hundreds of regional events. In pursuit of the Crane Trophy he won 71 (out of 202) in a single year. His percentage of wins in national events is equally notable. As a youth, while in the military in Germany, he was twice “national champion” of Baden-Wuertenberg .

He writes an extremely popular column called “Winsome and Loathsome” which entertains as well as educates. Zeke is especially known for advocating civility and proper deportment at the table. He makes us laugh and “gives back” to bridge. A very successful National Parkinson Foundation fund-raising tournament bears his name. He and friends from the world of theatre have done a number of shows at NABCs. He lectures to I/N groups at every NABC he attends. He also speaks at many of the regionals. He and wife Sharon join Eddie Kantar to host an annual bridge retreat.

“Best of all,” according to Sharon, “he has put a smile on the face of bridge.”
